Chef's Notes:

Press and starch all fabrics prior to cutting. Use a scant 1/4" seam.

YIELD

6" finished block

INGREDIENTS

From fabric 1, cut:
{A} (2) 4-1/4” squares, cut once diagonally
{B} (3) 2-5/8” squares
{C} (1) 1-1/4” square

From fabric 2, cut:
{D} (2) 2” squares

From fabric 3, cut:
{B} (1)  2-5/8” squares
{E} (1) 2½” square, cut into a circle

 

INSTRUCTIONS

STEP 1. MAKE DRESS

Draw a line diagonally on the 1-1/4” square and then place on one corner of the 2-5/8” square of dress fabric, sew on the draw line, trim to a ¼” seam allowance and press towards the dress fabric.

STEP 2. MAKE WINGS

Draw diagonal lines on both 2” squares of the wing fabric and sew them onto one corner of 2 of your background 2-5/8” squares. Trim, then press towards the wing fabric.

STEP 3. ASSEBMLE BLOCK

Sew the four 2-5/8” squares together to make a four patch, press.

Next, take the triangles created from the 4-1/4” background squares and sew them onto the sides of your four patch. Press.
Take your 2” square of dress fabric and using your favorite applique method, applique a 1” circle to the blank square for your angel’s head.

Trim block to 6-1/2”.
