INGREDIENTS

From Snow (9900 11), cut:
{A} (1) 3½” square

From Peacock (9900 216), cut:
{A} (2) 3½” squares
{B} (1) 1½” x 3½” rectangle
{C} (1) 1½” x 2½” rectangle
{D} (4) 1½” squares
{E} (1) 1” x 3½” rectangle
{f} (1) 1” x 3” rectangle
{G} (4) 1” squares

From Country Red (9900 17), cut:
{H} (2) 2½” squares
{C} (2) 1½” x 2½” rectangles
{I} (1) 1½” x 2¼” rectangle
{J} (1) 1½” x 2” rectangle
{K} (1) 1¼” x 2¼” rectangle
{L} (1) 1¼” square

From Dill (9900 77), cut:
{L} (1) 1¼” square

From Betty’s Pink (9900 120), cut:
{L} (1) 1¼” square

INSTRUCTIONS

MAKE UNIT A

1. On the wrong side of two turquoise 1” squares and one turquoise 1½” square, use a pencil to lightly draw a diagonal line from corner to corner. Layer a marked turquoise 1” square atop one corner of a red 1½” x 2½” rectangle with right sides together as shown. Stitch the pair together on the drawn line. Trim seam allowance to ¼” and press toward the turquoise.

2. Use the same stitch-and-flip method to sew a marked turquoise 1” square to the adjacent short side corner of the red 1½” x 2½” rectangle.

3. Use the stitch-and-flip method to sew a marked turquoise 1½” square to one corner of a red 1½” x 2½” rectangle as shown.

4. Sew the unit from step 2 to the top side of the unit from step 3. Sew a turquoise 1½” x 2½” rectangle to the top of the unit. Sew a turquoise 1½” x 3½” rectangle to the left side of the unit to make a Unit A measuring 3½” x 3½”, including seam allowances.

MAKE UNIT B

1. On the wrong side of one red solid 2½” square, one turquoise solid 3½” square, and two turquoise solid 1½” squares, use a pencil to lightly draw a diagonal line from corner to corner. Use the stitch-and-flip method to sew the marked red 2½” square to one corner of a white solid 3½” square. Use the stitch-and-flip method to sew the marked turquoise 3½” square to the opposite corner of the white 3½” square.

2. Use the stitch-and-flip method to sew marked turquoise 1½” squares to the remaining two corners of the white 3½” square to make a Unit B measuring 3½” x 3½”, including seam allowances.

MAKE UNIT C

1. On the wrong side of two turquoise solid 1” squares and one turquoise solid 1½” square, use a pencil to lightly draw a diagonal line from corner to corner. Use the stitch -and-flip method to sew a marked turquoise 1” square to one corner of a red 1¼” x 2¼” rectangle as shown.

2. Use the stitch-and-flip method to sew a marked turquoise 1” square to one corner of a red 1½” x 2” rectangle as shown.

3. Use the stitch-and-flip method to sew a marked turquoise 1½” square to one corner of a red 1½”x 2¼” rectangle as shown.

4. Join a green solid 1¼” square and a red solid 1¼” square as shown. Sew this unit to the top of the unit from step 2. Sew this unit to the right side of the unit from step 3.

5. Sew a pink solid 1¼” square to the right side of the unit from step 1. Sew this unit to the top of the unit from step 4. Sew a turquoise solid 1” x 3” rectangle to the left side of the unit. Sew a turquoise solid 1” x 3½” rectangle to the bottom of the unit to make a Unit C measuring 3½” x 3½”, including seam allowances.

MAKE UNIT D

On the wrong side of a red solid 2½” square, use a pencil to lightly draw a diagonal line from corner to corner. Use the stitch-and-flip method to sew the marked red 2½” square to one corner of a turquoise solid 3½” square to make a Unit D measuring 3½” x 3½”, including seam allowances.

ASSEMBLE BLOCK

Lay out Units A, B, C, and D in two rows as shown. Join the units in each row, pressing the seam allowances open. Join the rows. Press the seam allowances open to finish the block. The Merry Little Mitten block should measure 6½” x 6½”, including seam allowances — 6” finished.
