6" finished block (6 1/2" unfinished)

INGREDIENTS

From Snow (9900 11), cut:
{A} (1) 3½” square

From Country Red (9900 17), cut:
{C} (3) 1½” squares
{D} (1) 2” square

From assorted colors, cut:
{B} (12) 1 ¼” x 4” strips

INSTRUCTIONS

MAKE SOCK

Randomly select (4) 1¼” x 4” strips.  Sew these strips together on the long side.  Press.  Unit should measure 3 ½” x 4”.  Trim  to 3½” square.  Make 1.

On the wrong side of (3)1½” C squares and (1) 2” D square, mark a diagonal line from corner to corner.

Following Diagram 2 add a 1½ square to two corners of the 3 ½” square from above.  Sew on the line, trim ¼”.

Using the remaining (8) 1 ¼” x 4” strips sew together randomly.  Press. Trim to 3 ½” x 6 ½”.  
Place the 2” D square on the unit . Sew on the line, trim ¼” from the sewn

MAKE CORNER UNIT

Add a 1½” C square to one corner of the 3½” background square.  Sew on the line, trim ¼” from the sewn line (trim line indicated by the dotted line).  Press toward darker color.

ASSEMBLE BLOCK

Join block pieces as shown. Press well. Block measiures 18½” square unfinished.
