It's the end of the year and you've got big plans for quilts in 2018, don't you?

How about something sunny - a quilt that makes you think of Spring!  This is Due North from Doug Leko's new book, Stashtastic.  This quilt is made with a mix of Sew & Sew by Chloe's Closet and Fresh Cut by BasicGrey.  It measures 60" x 72".

You probably know Doug as Antler Quilt Design and all the books he's done with Holly Taylor's collections.  He's the designer-creator of the Simple Folded Corners ruler, and now he's published a terrific book with Martingale.  A dozen quilts ranging from easy-ish to a bit more complicated, each quilt is shown in two different fabric styles/color palettes to show how different the same design can look just by mixing up the fabric.  While the book is written primarily for Fat Quarters, Doug encourages mixing it up with Layer Cakes, Fat Eighths and your scraps for a scrappier, more unique look.

Stashtastic.  (It debuted at Fall Quilt Market and started shipping to shops a few weeks ago.)

This is Classic Mosaic - 62" x 78".  This version was made using Collection for a Cause Heritage and a few other pieces.

A mix of Reproduction collections - Alice's Scrapbag and Old Cambridge Pike by Barbara Brackman, and Collections for a Cause Mill Book 1892 by Howard Marcus makes up Country Roads.  It measures 64" x 80" and it features an off-center block and a slightly off-center Barn Raising layout.  The alternate version of this quilt is one of my favorites, it's made with Zen Chic's Flow and For You.

My other favorite is this Short Circuit quilt made with a mix of Jen Kingwell's Moving On Lawns, Lollies and Just A Speck collections.  (It's a combination I've used before and love every time I see it.)

Measuring 60" x 72", Short Circuit also mixes backgrounds from Jen's Behind the Scenes and Zen Chic's Modern Backgrounds Paper.

So here's the best part of all of this - Doug and the nice folks at Martingale have sent us books, more than enough to share.

To that we've added a couple of Fat Eighth bundles for a post-holiday, Happy 2018 giveaway!

Left to right - Meraki by BasicGrey & New Hope by Jo Morton.

To enter, just leave a comment answering three questions:

  • Are you going to get to sew over the New Year's Day holiday weekend?
  • Do you have quilting to-do list for 2018?
  • Which of these two collections would you prefer?

The deadline is Midnight on New Year's Day - January 1.

That's it for today - and for this year!

Here's hoping you have a safe, joyous and very Happy New Year!  And may 2018 be a "best ever" year for you and yours!
